Weekend in Newport Beach, CA Itinerary
By now you have been inspired by my Residents Guide to Newport Beach, CA and read through the logistics of planning a trip. You want to know an itinerary that you can follow for your trip. Here is an example itinerary if I had to plan one weekend in Newport Beach, CA.
Friday
Arrive in Newport Beach. Check in to your hotel. Take a quick walk on the boardwalk along the beach to get acquainted with the sea air and your surroundings. Get a happy hour margarita and some Mexican food at Baja Sharkeez. Go back to your hotel and enjoy the view as you get ready for a night out. Go out to Woodys Wharf or American Junkie to let loose on your first night of vacation!
Saturday
Wake up and get complimentary breakfast from your hotel. Grab the bikes and go for a ride along the boardwalk. Come back to your hotel and get dressed in a swimsuit and your favorite flip flops because you will be getting some much needed vitamin sea and vitamin D. Go rent a Duffy boat and cruise around the harbor for a couple hours. Don’t forget to pack a cooler! You can get lunch from your Duffy boat by ordering on the phone for pick up at the dock. Call Woodys Wharf and get some good American food while enjoying the harbor. After your Duffy boat ride, grab some beach chairs and towels and go to the beach right outside your hotel for the rest of the afternoon! Get cleaned up in your hotel for dinner and watch the gorgeous sunset by the Newport Pier. Go to Bluewater Grill for dinner it is amazing! Cap off your night at Stag to enjoy a fun night and show off your amazing pool skills.
Sunday
Get your complimentary breakfast and get ready for another day in the sun. This time head over to Balboa Pier. You can spend the morning on the beach before getting lunch at BJ’s (get the pizookie!) and heading to the fun-zone in the afternoon. Say goodbye to the sea as you head back to the airport after another solid day in the sun.
Alternatives
Have a couple extra days or want to trade out one of these activities with something more your style? Here are a few more activities to fill your trip:
- Whale watching and dolphin expedition
- Harbor boat cruise
- Fishing charter
- Watch people surf the wedge – a 30ft wave
- Take a surfing lesson
- Go shopping at fashion island
- Explore Balboa Island
- Kayak or stand up paddle board the back bay or harbor
- Go to Crystal Cove for hiking, the beach or Beachcombers restaurant
- Check out another city in Orange County if you have more time! I’d suggest doing this itinerary paired with Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach (coming soon)
