Venice Italy: Bucket List Gondola Ride

Oh Venice. Venice is on everyone’s bucket list for the romantic gondola rides and the city built by canals. I did a day trip to Venice and found the town to be quaint and cute but over crowded. Of course any day in Italy is a dream come true, but I would like to provide my honest opinion on my travels so you can prioritize and plan an itinerary of your own!

Maybe it was just the peak of summer season and because I didn’t spend the night, but I wasn’t impressed by Venice. It was very beautiful but it didn’t live up to the hype I had built up in my head from all those movies that visit Venice. I did my gondola ride and that was that! I wandered around aimlessly which filled up a couple more hours until my train left. One theme of my trip in Italy is literally sprinting to catch trains. I am not kidding you full on sprinting and arriving just before the doors close. All part of the experience right! It is fun to look back and laugh at those moments of my trip.

The gondola ride was fun and I’m so glad I got to check it off my bucket list! As I said, Venice is very scenic and beautiful. If I were reading this back before I had visited Venice I probably would not care and still go anyways to cross it off my bucket list and I would not blame you if you did too. If you go, spend a couple hours doing a gondola ride, eating lunch on the water, and wandering around. But based off my experience a couple hours is all you will need.
