Chianti, Italy
Ah Chianti. Dream of rolling green hills as you sip fine Italian red wine on a breezy day? Chianti is part of Tuscany in Northern Italy, famous for the wine. If you have ever had Chianti branded wine, yes this is the place where it is made. It is easy to visit this region as part of a day trip from Florence or as part of a larger Italian itinerary.
A typical visit to Chianti will involve a tour of the property and how the wine is made. A trip alone is worth it because of the views you get at the winery! The lush green hills are beautiful in the late spring and early summer! Simply stunning.
After the tour, you will be served a 4-course meal with wine accompanying each course, including a dessert wine! This is your chance to try all the different wines Chianti is famous for. I’m not a huge wine person, but I thoroughly enjoyed getting a taste of arguably, some of the most famous wine in the world.
After the meal, you will get a chance to hang out and purchase some of the wine. The coolest part? Instead of trying to lug bottles of wine in your checked back back to the States, you can order it to be shipped to where you live. Or you can have it shipped to family or friends as a great souvenir or gift for those back home!
You have some more free time to enjoy the views before departing on your day trip from the Chianti wine region. As I said, I’m not a wine person, but regardless I think this is a must-do stop on your Italian vacation. I think this gives you a huge appreciation of Italian culture and a taste of the best of Italy. To this day, I am very fond of Chianti wine only because I have toured the beautiful wineries! Hell, come just for the views alone and it will have made the trip worth it. I would even go as far to say that you could make this longer than a day trip to enjoy the views.
