Skiing for the First Time
Ever thought of picking up a new hobby as an adult? What about strapping a plank to each foot and going down a mountainside? Skiing is so popular I honestly wasn’t too nervous about it until I was doe-eyed at the top of a what looked like a cliff in my eyes. What to expect I have been snowboarding before and all I remember from when I was 10 is falling on my butt over and over. I was excited to see how skiing differed and I have heard it is much easier than snowboarding. Do a lesson I would highly highly highly recommend you do a lesson for the…
What to Expect Camping at Coachella
So you’ve decided you want to camp at Coachella? This will be the best/worst decision! Camping was by far my favorite part of Coachella BUT it was a major pain at the same time as far as getting in and out of the campsite and could have been made soooo much more efficient. Logistics of camping Getting to Coachella Camping is first-come first-serve…I left Orange County at 1am ON THUSRDAY which the festival doesn’t even start until Friday (yes I didn’t sleep) and got to Indio at 4am. I was in line for security and then to the group meet up area for I kid you not 5 hours. Security…
First Time Going to Coachella
Instagramers playground, the Coachella music festival! Coachella has always been right in my own backyard and it took me 4 years living in Arizona and 2 years living in California later to finally make it. Coachella is famous and people travel from all over the world to come. Known for celebrities, fun art work, and world class DJs. What can you expect at Coachella? What you need to know Prices Going to get this one over with first, Coachella is expensive. It cost $510 for the ticket alone and add on $120 on top of that for camping for the weekend. Luckily, I am in driving distance so it’s only…
What you Need to Know about Getting Scuba Diving Certified
Has it ever crossed your mind to enter the deep blue ocean and go down 60ft where there is no direct access to air and your surrounded by water? This TERRIFIED me. Okay, okay you have a regulator in your mouth so you can breathe and you have a mask over your face so you can see, but still it is a dangerous sport where drowning is a real possibility. I just love snorkeling and my boyfriend is scuba certified so for years now he has been trying to convince me to get certified. So should you do it? Test out the waters The first thing you can do if…
Camping at San Elijo State Beach Campgrounds
Looking to camp on the beach in California? Look no further than San Elijo state beach! The campground is on a bluff overlooking the beach with entry stairs down to the beach. What really made this campsite for me is the view. Overlooking a breezy California sunset while sitting next to my campfire is unbeatable. When picking a campsite, make sure to check a map and pick a site that is on the ocean side. If the campsite does not have an ocean view I think it could really detract from the experience. Since you are not right on the beach, the view is what you pay for to camp…
Hiking Switzer Falls in Southern California
If you Google hiking in Southern California, Switzer Falls often makes the top of the list and I can see why! It has been by far one of my favorite hikes in Southern California. It does help I went with 16 golden retrievers! If your animal lover, you can appreciate how stinkin cute it was to go hiking with the dogs. As I’m reading a review online of the falls, and someone posted a review the same day I went complaining that there were too many dogs and that a group of Golden’s took over the falls and got them wet hahahha. I guess if you don’t like dogs, maybe…
Costa Rica – Beaches, Jungle, and Waterfalls
Pura Vida! Pura vida means pure life and it is a way of living in Costa Rica. Costa Rica has been named one of the happiest countries in the world and no wander too – the beaches, the jungle, and the culture make Costa Rica a great destination to visit. I went many years ago now during college with one of my friends whose uncle had a house there. He was able to show us around all the best spots near San Jose due to his local knowledge. The Beaches Of course the main draw for me is the beaches! A jungle canopy overlooking the ocean, yes please! I went…
London, Baby!
To quote Joey from Friends “London, Baby!” and “I need to step in my map, hang on” – London was far more than I expected. I lived in Europe for a summer in college and I never made it to London because I thought it would be too similar to America. I expected modern and English speaking people just like myself. Boy was I surprised! London is made up of many different districts and each district is unique. Downtown London held up to being modern with some sky scrapers and a New York City vibe coupled with some historic buildings. As you get into other districts it almost felt like…
Where to Eat in Tempe, AZ
Go to Mill street and you will find a slew of restaurants to pick from and the street is only growing. This is where all the college kids hang out for food and for bars at night. The best part is most of the restaurants are not chains, rather they are unique places to eat and vibes that you could only get in Tempe. I’ve been all around the world and yet to find so many spectacular options and atmosphere as I have on Mill. Pedalhaus I think this is my all time favorite place to go. It helped I used to live a 30 second walk from here. The…
Catalina Island: Adventure & Charm
Hollywood stars? Yachts? Blue waters? Welcome to Catalina Island. Known for the frequent visits of Hollywood’s A-list celebrities in the 20th century, the likes of Marilyn Monroe. Catalina Island today is a tourist destination only an hour ferry ride from LA. The main town of Avalon resembles a more European town with a boardwalk, shops, and restaurants lining the water. It is a quick escape from LA but has such a different and slower pace of life than it’s LA counterpart. It always surprises me that people who are born and raised in California have yet to make a trip out and many people from other states fail to realize…
