Logistics of Planning a Trip to the Phoenix Area
For everyone who has decided to plan a trip to Arizona, but wants to know the details of how to plan a trip, look no further. Since everything in the Phoenix area is relatively close, these tips will apply to all of the cities (Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale). Where to stay Tempe If you are in Tempe, you will want to stay right where all the action is which would be right on Mill street! The Marriott is a block off Mill and can provide you easy access to walking to all your favorite restaurants, bars, and the ASU campus. The hotel has a pool and a free shuttle to and…
What to do in Tempe, AZ
If you find yourself heading for sunnier skies, be sure to check out Tempe which boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year! Tempe is a college town caught in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area. It has the best of both worlds of being close to a lot of activities while maintaining a small college town charm. The nearby college of Arizona State University isn’t exactly small – with the most students of any college in the United States at over 70,000. It feels much smaller as a large percentage of the students are online, commute, or live on one of the other three campuses. I had the joy of…
Kauai, Hawaii
If any of you follow my instagram, you will know I just spent some time on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai! If you don’t follow my Instagram yet check out @seapursuit to see all my pictures from the trip! Ah where to even start! Kauai has adventure, beautiful scenery, and amazing beaches! It is a wild green jungle island that holds the Hawaiian spirit. To give a brief background, Kauai is a smallish island (compared to a Caribbean island it seemed rather large) but it is very diverse on each section of the island. The North side of the island is known for the rain, jungle, and pristine natural…
Should You Visit Florence, Italy?
I spent two weeks in Florence, Italy (Firenze!) while studying abroad. I stayed with a host family where the father was a chef! Neither of the parents had great English so communication was rather difficult. We kept to key words that we knew in the other language! They had a cute little apartment that was on the outskirts of the city. They still had their 30 year old son with them who was unwed so I guess that’s totally normal! Not quite the same as America! Wanderings Florence was my first experience in Italy and it was a great way to start my trip. I absolutely loved exploring this city!…
Venice Italy: Bucket List Gondola Ride
Oh Venice. Venice is on everyone’s bucket list for the romantic gondola rides and the city built by canals. I did a day trip to Venice and found the town to be quaint and cute but over crowded. Of course any day in Italy is a dream come true, but I would like to provide my honest opinion on my travels so you can prioritize and plan an itinerary of your own! Maybe it was just the peak of summer season and because I didn’t spend the night, but I wasn’t impressed by Venice. It was very beautiful but it didn’t live up to the hype I had built up…
Sun, Sea, and Italy: Cinque Terre, Italy, the Hidden Gem
Cinque Terre, the hidden gem of Italy. Well maybe not so hidden anymore! Cinque Terre is a huge tourist destination in Italy. Easily accessible by train from Florence, it is made up of five (cinque) towns that were painted bright colors so fisherman could return home safe and sound. I took a tour group to Cinque Terre but it easily reachable on your own as well. Take the train to the towns and get off and explore! Take a hike in between towns to see some gorgeous views. See the brightly colored houses cliffside next to sparkling blue water. One word of note, bring tennis shoes! I saw a lot…
What to do in Maui, Hawaii
Before I had a lot of traveling under my belt, Hawaii was #1 on my bucket list. Naturally, I convinced my parents to go when I was 18. Being on the west coast it is a pretty short flight. Hawaii as you can imagine did not disappoint! If you want luxury combined with adventure and relaxation, Hawaii is the place for you! There is so much more to do than just lay on the beach all week. We picked Maui because it wasn’t as crowded as Honolulu but it still had a lot to do and that Hawaii charm. Activities Horseback Riding I did a horseback riding tour with my…
Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas is an absolute must in your 20’s!! I was spoiled in college because fraternity’s would have their formals in Vegas every semester. That meant I got a lot of Vegas trips by the time I graduated at 22! Even after graduation, my friends and I make a point to go back once or twice a year. I’m still only a 4 hour drive so Vegas is easy. For those who have somehow escaped reality and every pop culture reference and don’t know what Vegas is all about, I will enlighten you. The Strip The strip is built of giant hotels and when I say giant I mean you…
Why the Cayman Islands Should be Your Next Vacation
When I picture the Caribbean, I picture the Cayman Islands. My first inspiration to visit the Cayman Islands was my parents because they spent a year living on Grand Cayman when they were in their 20’s. They used to show me pictures of their time living in the Cayman’s and I knew I had to visit for myself. I must admit, I always dreamed of living in the Caribbean for a year just like my parents did, but they were able to make it work through both working in Public Accounting which unfortunately I do not. What they told me about the Cayman’s was snorkeling and diving every weekend, fishing,…
Best Camping Spots in Oregon
One of my favorite activities is camping because I love the outdoors and being in nature. It allows for personal time away from cell phones and TVs. The scenery is normally beautiful with bright shooting stars at night. I love hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, card games, campfires, hot dogs, smores, and all the activities and food that come along with camping. Oregon is the perfect setting for camping. Oregon and the outdoors go hand in hand. Think gorgeous coastlines, tall pine trees, and deep blue lakes. Without further ado, here are my favorite camping spots: Nehalem Bay State Park Nehalem Bay is located on the Oregon Coast near Manzanita, Oregon.…
