One Day in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is an especially gorgeous part of Mexico. The ground is covered by lush rainforests and the sounds of the jungle. When I think of Mexico, I think of Cabo and the desert scenery with the beach. Puerto Vallarta, even with my limited time there, is one of my favorite destinations in Mexico! If you only have one day in Puerto Vallarta here is what to do:
Walk around town
There is a boardwalk that has a lot of artwork and sites to see. On the boardwalk are huge colorful letters in the ground that spell Puerto Vallarta along this strip. There are several statues and even some stone art. I felt like I was in a lost city of Europe. The ambiance here was so different and magical then the rest of Mexico. My favorite part of this strip was finding a SunDevil bar. I had to poke my head in and I found out the owner graduated from ASU, retired young, and opened up a bar in Mexico! Talk about goals! He even gave me a free drink for being an ASU alumni.
The beach
A trip to Mexico is not complete without a day on the beach. The beaches are rather muggy and hot because of the tropical atmosphere. Take frequent trips jumping in the water to cool off! Just don’t leave your stuff unattended. You are still in Mexico and it will get stolen. If you sit away from everyone you don’t get hassled by a ton of street vendors like you would in Cabo. The beach itself wasn’t as pretty as Cabo I thought but it was well worth an afternoon laying out and working on my tan. There were more beautiful beaches but given my limited time, I went to the one that was most accessible.
The jungle
Take a trip into the jungle! I took a tour to this secluded cove where I was served dinner as the sun set. I could hear all the animals in the forest. It almost felt like Disneyland because all of the locals working there were dressed up as animals or mermaids to play into the atmosphere. After dinner, they all came together to do a performance. I don’t normally like these type of performances, but the costumes and dancing was spectacular. I was in awe. The surroundings really sold the performance. It was sad when we had to get back on the boat to town because I was leaving this magical place.
I wish I got more time to spend here! I only had one day on shore from my cruise. If you can, I would stay longer than a day. I only scratched the surface of the adventuring and exploring of Puerto Vallarta. Only one day will sell you on the magic and beauty of Puerto Vallarta.
